monster hunter rise
The second 5th Generation entry in the Monster Hunter franchise, released first for Nintendo Switch in 2021.
The game features various acrobatic actions and player moves tied to Wirebug, massively increasing the maneuverability of player and allowing temporarily taking control of large monsters.
Aestheticallly, it returns to overall traditional Japanese aesthetics since Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, with this time many of new monsters also being based on folkloric yokais and deities.
The game is also notable as the first game to refer major NPCs by name instead of titles, which is the first to do so in-game.
